Al Stewart concert in Breda -
The Netherlands 08-10-2002
The first time I saw Al
Stewart was in 1996.
I have bought his albums since 1976 and some time after I'd bought Past
Present And Future (originally from 1972) I found out that on this album Roger Taylor
co-operated on two tracks. (It was indeed mentioned in the cd-booklet)
After the show on October 8th 2002 in my town I decided to buy his book
and a compilation-cd so Al Stewart could sign it. I arranged for a meeting afterwards.
This was a "private" conversation - just me and Al and I
mentioned him that I am a huge Queen fan. He immediately told me that he thought Freddie was GREAT and asked me if I
was aware of the fact that he and Freddie were both born on September 5th.
Before I could ask he started talking about his 1972 album on which Roger
Taylor had done some
percussion.
He did not know on which tracks and suggested me to ask Roger
himself!
I know that Roger played on Roads to Moscow and had always believed after
careful listening to the
album that the other track was Soho (Needless To Say). I have to listen to
the album again though and
perhaps compare the percussion of Roads To Moscow with the other tracks.
Meeting and talking to Al Stewart was great - it's a very nice chap with a
sense of humor.
After 26 years I finally had the chance to speak to him and talk about
Queen !
