This time I had a ticket for a
place quite far at the back of the venue, block F2.
During the concert Brian and Roger apologised to the audience for this
"CRAP" venue. Well, Wembley Pavilion is indeed
a crap place to have a rock concert! We arrived at 15:00 hrs at the venue
and while walking there we spotted Brian May,
who drove by in his car, but had to make a stop right in front of our
noses, due to the traffic.
We all gave him a "thumbs up" to say hello in some kind of way
and Brian replied by doing the same to us.
The new Wembley Stadium is going to be a big venue and it all looks very
promising. I did not realise before
that also the old Wembley Arena had gone and also the old DeLane Lea
Studios were no longer there.
Luckily some years ago I took pictures of these historic places and they
can be found on my other pages.
Wembley Pavilion itself is one of the worst venues I have been to, to have
a Rock Concert. Only seated places, but everybody
got on their feet as soon as the show started of course. I was sitting
quite at the back and felt that one could only
enjoy the visible site of the band when you were no further away than
let's say halfway the hall.
I just cannot understand that there was no other place available in London
to host this show. Those who have only
seen this concert could have left disappointed about the venue, but surely
totally overwhelmed by the show itself.
This can be one of the best performances of this tour, looking at the
energy that came from the band.
They all just gave everything they could give. Spike - present as ever,
Jamie - on fire,
Danny - stunning!, Brian - overloaded with high energy, Roger - beating
the hell out of his drumkit
and Paul.... just phenomenal. This man has one of the best voices around.
Too bad the light show was smaller than on other venues (again: why
Wembley Pavilion???)
During and after the show we met Jacky Gunn, Rick Parfitt (Status Quo),
Jeff Scott Soto, Jim Beach,
Danny Miranda, Spike Edney, Jamie Moses, Neill Murray, Tony Bourke
(drummer of WWRY Musical), Trip Khalaf,
Greg Brooks, and had a nice chat with Hannah J Fox (Scaramouche in the
WWRY Musical).
Roger Taylor and Brian May decided not to stop, but they drove off
immediately after leaving the afterparty.
But then there was Paul Rodgers. Clearly enjoying the attention of the
four of us who had been waiting there.
Security wanted to give him a free exit, but Paul himself had the car
stopped, opened the window and took
his time to shake hands, do some signing and have a little chat with us.
Thanks for everything Paul! And thanks to the band for making this show an
unforgettable experience!

Due to the fact we were
sitting quite at the back, this time the pictures are not THAT great of
course.
Also security made clear that making pictures was not allowed.
(kinda weird telling us this, while camera lights were flashing all over
the place!)
