QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS
LONDON O2 13-10-2008

My fourth concert of this tour.
The O2 venue is stunning to see and inside it's just a small town on it's own, so it seems. Many places to eat and drink.
You're just overwhelmed by the view of it all, once you get inside for the first time. Long before the concert started the merchandise
was already on sale. When the four of us wanted to enter the waiting queue we had our tickets scanned
and for some reason they kept our tickets. This bothered me a lot and I clearly objected. I said I'd paid for that ticket
and being a collector I demanded it back. No way. I got a wristband instead and they promised us we got "our"
tickets back after the show. After the show at one entry point all tickets were gone already. We hurried to our own entry point and
there we just got hold of 4 tickets. It were the last 4 they said. We learned some folks had gathered tickets at both entry points.
What a disgraceful thing to withold your own tickets. ("Some say I'm losing my mind, what a shame shame shame...")
Well onto the show itself. The venue was the best I've seen this tour. From where we stood
(head of the catwalk) sound quality was perfect. And then there is this band called QUEEN + Paul Rodgers.
It was a party, it was a show, it was stunning. Roger just gave it all during the complete concert. Before he started A Kind Of Magic
he dedicated the song to his mother. "She's here tonight", he said. Brian, Roger, Paul, Jamie, Danny and Spike had so much fun tonight.
You could see it, you could feel it. Setlist was the same as the last gigs, but this time We Believe had Paul on leadvocal all the way.
During the last part of the show there was a small surprise act. Al Murray appeared and joined the band for a short time.
At the end of his appearance Brian ran from the head of the catwalk towards the back of the stage with Al running after him. Very funny!
( I managed to take 1 picture of it)
We already knew there was a small afterparty so when this fabulous concert had ended we had our own afterparty with a couple of
drinks inside the O2. At midnight we went outside where we met our dear friend Brigitte from Germany (she runs the unofficial Roger
Taylor website). Then the four of us went to one exit point of the arena and waited for things to happen. And waited. And waited.
We saw quite some cars with blinded windows drove off and "we believe" Roger was in one of those.
When Paul Rodgers left we waved at him and he stopped, got out of his car and we had such a warm conversation with him.
What a nice guy he is! He took time to sign and take pictures as well. Thanks Paul!
And then we waited, and waited... We know Brian is usually one of the last to leave a venue so we waited a little longer along with a
group of 4 Japanese women. And there he came... He was so kind to stop and get out of his car. He recognised the Japanese women.
The first thing he did was apologizing for the fact he had no shoes on! What a guy. Haha. ("Sock it to me!")
We all shook hands and he asked if we wanted things to get signed. Mark had the C-lebrity picturedisc autographed and Steven had
a specially made jacket he wanted to get signed. Brian really liked that one. Then finally a group picture and after all these years at last
I had the chance to get a posed picture of Brian with myself! Thank you, Brian!
I had started this Monday the 13th at 5.00 am and went to bed at 4.00 am on Tuesday the 14th.
("I always wanted to be a groupie!")
